Backlit Ereaders
why no backlit ereaders?
I just want to hear the reason why. The only reason, for me, to buy an ereader instead of books is to get all the technological advantages possible. That is why im shocked that ereaders dont even have a backlight option for reading in dim light
A few reasons.
First, it would significantly limit the battery life.
Second, it would cause eye strain and potential permanent eye damage with prolonged use.
And lastly, you wouldn't get that natural look with a back light. You might have noticed that eReaders like the Kindle have very natural looking paper-like displays. This very soft, virtual-texture that make the screen easier on your eyes could not be achieved with a back light.
