looking for tulle for evening gown...?
I'm making an evening gown and am looking for a tulle with a soft hand, since the dress is body hugging and the tulle will be a light overlay. however, I will be doing some beading on the tulle, so it should be able to handle that... what kind of tulle would work best?thanks!
Most common tulle you will find is rayon or nylon and is stiff and scratchy. This kind of netting is generally used for petticoats (crinoline). The larger the dress, the more weight the petticoat must support, the stiffer the netting.
Try looking for organza or chiffon on ebay or other online retailer. These fabrics tend to be softer to the touch than standard harsh tulle. Personally I would check your local stores for the material so you can better compare colors. Craft stores and even most Wal-Marts carry fabric and should have some organza laying around.
