kindle or sony reader?

i've been debating over which digital reader to get as well as fighting it, since i love reading 'real' books with a cover, and being able to 'dogie ear' all my favorite passages, writing in margins...

i'm a big believer in the more abused your book looks, the more you love it, use it, etc. ;p

so i have no idea which one would be the 'lesser' evil one to get. i hear that kindle's don't allow you to read on your pc, as well as your kindle, which is a big no way for me. but also found out that i can only get ebooks from amazon if i have a kindle (or an iphone/itouch).

so if you have, used to own, etc a kindle or sony reader, what did you like about it? favorite features? or hate about it. ;p

Actually most ebook sellers don't want their books to be readable on other devices, to protect their own benefit. Kindle books can only be read on the Kindle, Sony ebooks can only be read on Sony (not Kindle), barnes and nobles ebooks only on iRex, etc. There are some sites which sell ebooks in open format (like PDF), and they will be readable on all the devices.

I'll choose the Kindle over the Sony Reader, because Amazon provide lots of books in their Kindle store, and you'll have a much better selection. I recommend you to read this review about the Kindle, it is the best review I've ever read:
