Is it possible to find a service that would change my favorite paperback books into hardback format ?

Hello and Thank for answering my question. I would like to know is there a service , somewhere out there on the Internet , that would be able to take some of my favorite paperback books and change them into hardbacks. Some of my paperback books would not last a year or two of frequent heavy use. Thanks!! and don,t forget the web link if available!

It's called a bindery. Google it--there are lot's of them.

First, remember that you can expand your dialogue tags (but don't overuse this!) The man can say, ask, murmur, splutter, etc. (Google "list of dialogue tags" or something for more examples.) Make sure the tag you are using makes sense – you can use

"I love strawberries," the man said with a smile.

    OR

"I love strawberries." The man smiled.

    BUT NOT

"I love strawberries," the man smiled.

because smiling is not something you do with words.

More desirable, however, is to include something other than a dialogue tag. Some scenes will need to be straight back-and-forth dialogue; however, you can add some depth and color by fleshing it out. Here are some simple examples:

The man sighed; he really didn't want to have this conversation. "All right, let's get this over with."

"We only have—" the man checked his watch "—ten more minutes."

"Soup for lunch, I think." It was, after all, a cold day, and the man needed something to warm his bones.

Lastly, remember that you don't necessarily need to cover all the dialogue to get from here to there. Unless the specifics of the discussion are relevant (plot or character development, for example, or setting the tone for a scene) you might prefer to say something like:

After a brief discussion, the men decided to have soup for lunch

    instead of detailing the debate.
