S-Video Plug Confusion!?

Hello! Recently I've been looking for a cable to plug my pc over to my television. But I've become a bit confused looking.
I saw this cable >>http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-S-Video-Cable-Gold-Minidin4M/dp/B000CI4UBU
But then I saw underneath you can buy a scart plug. Is this necessary to buy or can I plug my television into my pc with just that wire?
Thankyou!!

I'll straighten this out for you.

It varies based on the PC. Normally a PC has a 7 pin S-video socket, and a TV has a 4 pin socket. Normally the 7 pin socket can be used with a 4 pin lead, but not always.

Count the number of pins in the socket on the PC, if it has 4 pins you can use the Amazon lead but if it has 7 pins you be better using 7pin to 4pin adaptor like one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/7-PIN-S-VIDEO-to-4-Pin-S-Video-RCA-cable-M-F_W0QQitemZ370236656627QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_DIY_Material_Electrical_Fittings_MJ?hash=item5633d30bf3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 or a 7pin to 4pin lead like one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/7-PIN-S-VIDEO-TO-1-RCA-4-Pin-SVIDEO-TV-CABLE-LEAD-CORD_W0QQitemZ130318495536QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item1e57966f30&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

You don't need the scart adaptor, you only need that if your TV doesn't have an s-video or composite input.

A 7 pin socket can also output composite and component as well as s-video.

Composite gives a very poor picture, svideo gives a slighty better picture. However component is far far better, so use component if you can. See if your TV has Red, Green and Blue sockets on the back, if it does it supports component input. Component can also carry high definition.

You can use one of these to split your PC's 7-pin S-video output into it's various options, it's called a breakout cable. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/7-PIN-S-VIDEO-to-3-RCA-RGB-TV-4-PIN-FOR-Cable-Adapter_W0QQitemZ250485567441QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item3a521a6fd1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

This gives you:
Yellow phono = composite.
Red, Green and Blue phonos = component.
Black 4 pin lead = s-video.

Or you can use a component all in one lead. One end plugs into your directly into your 7pin port and the other directly into your TV
