Is there any formula to estimate the cable size(sq mm) for the given current(Amp) to flow through it ?
In 3 phase power supply system what is the safe FACTOR by which we can multiply the cable size(sq mm) to know its current(Amp) carrying capacity, both in the case of Aluminium and Copper cables.
Is it 1.25 for Al cable and 1.85 for Cu cable ? What is the safe and correct factor electrical designers use ?
There are no specific formulas that are used. There are, however, tables of ampacities listed in electrical standards (such as the National Electric Code -- NEC). This is how systems are designed -- not to a formula, but by looking up the wire size in a table, knowing the required current for the system. The tables list both aluminum and copper wires (and copper clad wire, etc.). They also take into account the temperature, the insulation, and the number of wires in a bundle (if multiple wires are running inside conduit or a raceway).
You could look up the information in these tables and come up with the formulas you describe.
