Does my phone charger use electricity when it's not charging my phone?
Hey everyone. I've been looking to cut down on my energy consumption, and I have a quick question.
My phone charger plugs into an outlet behind my desk. I normally just leave it plugged in, even when my phone is not charging, since it's a little difficult to plug in and unplug every couple days.
What I am wondering, is when the phone charger is plugged in, but not charging my phone, is it still consuming electricity? The electricity wouldn't really be going anywhere, right?
I'd love any input or if someone could shed some light on this for me. Thanks a lot!

Considering your charger has transformers and rectifiers inside to turn the 120AC line voltage into a 1.5-3Vdc (might be off based on phone, sorry if that isn't correct voltage, but it is DC) there will always be some measure of current that processes through the transformers. That being said, yes, your phone charger does use some electricity, Probably not very much, some, yes it does.
