Ebook Reader Barnes

Do I have to buy Barnes and Noble ebooks for the Nook?

I've been thinking of buying an ebook reader for a while now and cnet.com says that the Nook (the Barnes and Noble ebook reader, Kindle is for Amazon) is the better buy (feel free to let me know otherwise!). If I bought it, would I be forced to buy Barnes and Noble ebooks in order to be able to read it on the Nook, or is there a website/application that has compatible ebooks for cheaper? Thanks so much!

If you buy the Nook, expect you need to get most of the books from B&N ebook store. If you buy the Kindle, expect most of the books are from Amazon Kindle store. They all protect their own benefit so you'll not be able to read ebook across different platform.

However, the Nook and the Kindle can support other format like PDF so you can still get books from other websites. You can see the section "Files Kindle Recognizes" on the official page here for what file formats the Kindle can support:
