What is a better e-book reader, Amazon Kindle 3 (Latest Generation) or BeBook Neo?

I'm currently thinking on what e-book reader is best for me sine I live outside the U.S. and some e-book readers are only available within the U.S. (such as Nook).

As of now, I see a good deal with Amazon Kindle 3 mainly because it is much cheaper as compared to BeBook Neo but I can see that with Kindle, you're locked in with their Amazon eBook Store unlike BeBook Neo in which you have the choice to buy books from different sources since it reads multiple formats.

Another reason why I'm contemplating in buying Kindle is because I think the e-reader's features is much better than BeBook.

Also, I have noticed that there aren't as much popular books in other (third party) e-book stores as compared to Amazon's eBook store.

Can you give me reasons for me to buy Amazon Kindle 3 OR BeBook Neo?

Amazon dropped the Kindle 3 price from $259 to $139 WiFi only and $189 3g version in order to prevent Border's debut of the $149 Canadian Kobo from making a splash as it did in Canada and in Australia. The barebones Kobo (doesn't even come with a charger, just a USB cable, charger is extra) has Amazon scared. The Kobo is open and can use ebooks checked out of your local public library online.

Border's now has the color Cruz ereader on their website which uses Android WebOS instead of Linux like Kobo and Kindle but the ereader software looks like it's Kobo's software. The Sharper Image Literati which is also a color LCD ereader is coming out in October and it too looks like it's running Kobo software. The switch to an available color product is probably due to Kindles surprise price drop. Really Amazon is the only one that can permanently sustain a loss leader for their ereader. It'll be interesting to see what Kobo will do, they still have the lowest costs and they have deep pockets behind them internationally but with Cruz on Border's website, I think Borders is saying that they won't underwrite a loss leader ereader from ebook sales like Amazon is doing, at least not by themselves.

This year is shaping up to be the battle of the ereaders. Color LCD readers again in the $150 price range will be the next volley and next year may bring the flexible e-Ink screens, maybe softback cloth or leather ereaders. The year following will probably bring the color e-Ink ereaders bringing battery life and no eye strain to the color market but it may also bring more cost and that would put them up against the iPad. Textbooks will be a big driver behind ereaders, which is why Amazon has their larger format Kindle DX out. With Texas trying to change all the historical figures in social studies text books to republican historical figures, e-books may be the only way out for states more concerned about education than politics. Text ebooks won't really take off till color e-Ink is available but University students will probably be using the B&W ereaders now to save on textbook costs. Social networking ebook storefronts like Copia will be interesting as they would provide students with large study groups working out of the same textbook but from different Universities.

Because of Amazon defending it's monopoly, the Kindle 3 is a great deal, it's actually being sold below cost plus they're throwing in free AT&T 3g subscription (at least free for now). The being locked in problem can be addressed with third party conversion software including ones of questionable legality to strip the DRM off the library books provided that you're tech savvy or you can use Amazons conversion service which they charge for. Kindles only support Amazon DRM's. But I do like the optional leather case for the Beobook that you can get from stylzworld.com, the leather case for the Kindle 3 is in testing.

I'd go with Kindle right now because it's a hell of a bargain but there's a lot to watch on the horizon. I hope Kobo manages to find a way to be the low cost product again.
