Research Paper, need book sources without going to the library.?

I need 4 book resources (cant just be articles on the internet) for my paper. Our teacher recommended MEL.org (Michigan Electronic Database) but I couldnt really find anything on there. I need book sources for the Death Penalty. So is there like a site with online books that I could print out paragraphs from or something like that? Please Help

Several good books on the death penalty were found in a recent search on the web. One was by Mark Osler who was a former federal prosecutor and present faculty member at a conservative Christian law school in Texas. His book titled "Jesus on Death Row: The Trial of Jesus and American Capital Punishment." His book compares the trial and execution of Jesus and a capital case conducted in the U.S. justice system. It compares Pontius Pilat to how the Justice system uses paid informants, conflicting testimony of witnesses, and the denial of clemency in both Jesus’ case and in recent cases in the U.S..

Another book by Author Gilbert King, has the title, "The Execution of Willie Francis." It tells the story of a young African-American man who endured the electric chair twice before being executed for the murder of a white man in Louisiana. In 1946, an all-white jury convicted Francis, who was 17, and sentenced him to death. The first attempt to execute him by electrocution did not work. Subsequently, he was returned to his death row cell where he remained for almost another year while the U.S. Supreme Court considered whether a second electrocution would constitute cruel and unusual punishment.

A third book was released in 2009. It is by Raymond Lesniak, an asseblyman in New Jersey who voted to reinstate the death penalty in New Jersey in 2007. In December of 2007, the citizen of New Jersey voted to abolish the death penalty. As it happened New Jersey became the first state in 40 years to accomplish this. Then, State Senator Lesniak was one of the sponsors and legislative leaders of the abolition bill. His new book titled "The Road to Abolition: How New Jersey Abolished the Death Penatly."

In commenting on the book, Senator Lesniak said, "Why do I care so much about the murderers on death row who, except for the innocent ones, committed the most heinous acts of murder imaginable? I don't. . But I do care about the damage that holding on to anger, resentment and the need for vengeance does to us as a society and as human beings.

The fourth book is "Debating the Death Penalty: Should America Have Capital Punishment?," It was published by Oxford Press in 2004. The editors are Hugo Bedau and Paul Cassell. It brings together judges, lawyers, prosecutors and philosophers to debate the death penalty in a spirit of open inquiry and exchange. The book discusses issues such as deterrence, innocence, life in prison without parole, and race. In addition to the editors, those who have chapters in the book include: Judge Alex Kozinski, Stephen Bright, Joshua Marquis, Bryan Stevenson, Professor Louis Pojman and former Governor George Ryan.

How about a gift of an eBook Reader? You might consider the fact that they are very convenient and that the recipient would have an inventory of books to read that would make a small library embarrassed. At any given moment, you have from up to 1500 books to choose from in the latest releases of Electronic Book Readers available on today's market.

An ebook reader, an ebook device or ereader, is a device used for the reading of ebooks. It could be specifically designed for that purpose, or also intended for other purposes as well. The number one reason for these devices is that they are portable, and also the fact that their screens are readable in bright sunlight, and they have very long battery life.

The Amazon Kindle is fast replacing the printed book because it is wireless, portable and forces us to increase our reading habit. Previously, users could not avoid using the desktop PCs to read e-books. It is not convenient to curl up with a bulky laptop in bed to finish that good e-book. The Amazon Kindle makes it all better.

It is also no larger than a magazine, such as sports illustrated or Time, and is also no heavier and just about the same thickness. It is also just like reading paper pages, but with a lot more clarity.

There are a lot of advantages to ereaders from the Readers point of view and also the view of the Author/Publishers.

1. You can automatically search for text and cross reference it using hyperlinks, this makes the format ideal for works that would benefit from the functions.

2. Less actual space is needed to store an electronic book, and untold numbers of books may be stored on the same device.

3. A reader with several books on it is easier to take care of than several books in print.

4. Because they take no space, ebooks can be offered indefinitely, with no date of going out of print, therefore, authors too can earn royalties indefinitely.

5. You can read an e-reader in very little light or even in the dark by means of a back light.

6. Although a small amount of electricity is needed to read them, producing electronic books does not use paper, ink, or other resources that are needed in printed books.

Think of it, you get on a long flight and are unable to stop at the newsstand or convenience store to pick up some reading material to use to pass the time. Just pull out your reader and log in to Amazon or one of the other online bookstores or newspapers and download your choice in seconds. Or what if you're hung up in the waiting area for hours or, perish the thought, days.

Ebook readers will be a hot gift this holiday season since a group of new media devices are set to join iPods and other music medium as must-have tech accessories.

As of now, the light, thin devices appeal to book lovers mainly, but most customers look at them as the first step in a made to order gadget that society will use to watch movies and surf the Web, anywhere and everywhere they get the urge to do so, as well as use them to scan books and newspapers.

ISuppli expects worldwide sales of ereaders to be more than 5 million this year up from over 1 million last year. We don't know yet, whether the current crop of readers will evolve into products with more and better features, or tablets swoop in to claim the market for their own.

The ereader is claiming a larger market share day by day. A study by Retrevo, a website specializing in consumer electronics, discovered that ereaders beat out the MP3 player on the holiday wish list this year, with over 20 percent of people who responded to the survey saying they planned to buy one this year.
