Any inspiration or advice for handmade wedding invitations?

I am getting married in June and am thinking of making my own wedding invitations. I would like to make them myself using paper, glue, watercolor, ribbons, etc. -- not a pre-made print-at-home kit. I would probably print the invitation text on vellum and then affix it somehow to the decorated paper. I haven't done a lot of scrapbooking or paper crafting before, so I would appreciate any advice you have for me.

Do you know of any websites that tell one how to do this?
Do you have links to any pictures that could inspire me?
Have you done this before? Do you have any good advice?

Thanks for your help!

There are tons of ideas out there! First start looking at different invitations and get an idea of what you like. Then you can buy the paper and supplies, and lastly lay it all out. A website which I use frequently and recommend often is paper-source.com.
Go to how to > videos > and watch their videos on
petal invitation, pocket folder invitation, and program kits just to get ideas.
Before you decide on your final measurements and materials, be sure to do a thorough test run. You may find that vellum doesnt work well for your printer, and card stock does, or vice versa. Printing is where most problems arise, so sort this out first.
Expect these to take a great deal of your time to complete- they will! But if you enjoy it and have patience, they will be beautiful.
Ill attach a pic of our invitations. We got a lot of compliments on them. I used Japanese washi paper and gold cords to tie the front, to incorporate my husband's culture. Inside, I designed and printed the invitation, map, and RSVP card.
Good luck and have fun with your invitations!
