Questions about an ebook?
So yea, for Christmas I want to get my mom an ebook/ereader. She likes to read books alot so I thought that it would be the perfect gift for her. But I have lots of questions about em.
1. What is a good affordable ebook/ereader, idk what the proper name of these things are called?
2. Do you need wifi to read the books on it or is it always available?
3. Do you actually have to buy the books to read them or can you just look the books up and read them for free?
4. Would the books be available in different languages?
5. Is it worth getting an ebook/ereader or would it be better to stick to paperback book?

In short, I won't choose iPad or Nook Color, because they're using backlight screen like computer screen, and is difficult to our eyes. Just not suitable for reading purpose. For other ebook readers including the B&N Nook, Sony Reader, and Amazon Kindle, I'll go for the Kindle. For the Sony Reader, many books (especially new releases) cannot be easily find on it. For the Nook, it is good but it is slower and less user friendly compared to the new version of Kindle.

How to download books to sony ereader?
I know you can buy them. But I have books on my PC, actually just word files, which are in foreign languages and I want to download them to ereader. Anybody knows how to do that? I assume I have to convert them to pdf first, right?
you will need adobe reader or microsoft reader software installed on the device , after this point all you will need to do is follow the instructions on the particular media you download , it should transfer from your pc to your device when buying online , you will have to state when buying the device type or mobile device to have it copy to your device
