Trying to buy a e-Reader what do i look for and what would you Recommend?

Instead of buying books, i am planning to invest in e-Readers as a student. First of all how do import and deport books unto a e-Reader? Do you have to buy them online or get them for free? or just use microsoft word or notepad? I want to buy a eReader that has a broad range of support file formats, including Mp3 (so i can listen to music while reading or listen to audio books). Also, i want one where you can have a dictionary ( I'm a student after all), wifi and maybe a touchscreen if it is useful. iPad are too expensive... so im looking into something else. thank you!

And preferably, a large screen, as i dislike peering into small screens, and having to constantly change pages.

Also i enjoy reading comic books, therefor will need to support comic books, jpg etc.
