Nook Ereader Library Books

What eReader should I buy - Sony, Kindle, Koboo?
I'm struggling between the low priced Kobo, the Kindle with 3G and the Sony eReader Touch.
I like the touch feature of the Sony. And the 3G capability of the Kindle (would hate to run out of books if I'm nowhere near a computer). But I think the book library is the no. 1 for me.
I'm a big reader of fantasy and historical novels.
If I bought a Sony eReader, can I download boods from Kindle to the Sony? Or to put it another way, how interchangeable are the books. Can I buy an online book from Chapters, Amazon and load it to any device?
Are Barnes and Noble ebooks available in Canada? What about the Nook that I keep reading about?
Appreciate any advice with as much detail as possible. Please don't just say "buy the X" - please tell me why!
Thanks in advance
Thanks Maxim and Arthur for your detailed responses.
You both have me leaning towards the Kindle 3....I only wish it had touch screen!
Don't get Kobo ereader, it is very basic, having few functions and its price is not specially cheat.
Amazon just released a new Kindle and it is much better. There is a fresh user comment here about choosing between the new Kindle or the Nook:

I've also given a detailed comparison between the new Kindle and the other most popular ebook readers, in another answer here (I've also mentioned where to get free books in the answer). Guess you'll find interested:

Each ebook reader publisher protect their own ebooks with DRM, so they cannot be read on other ebook readers. So Sony's ebook can't be read on the Kindle, and Kindle's ebooks can't be read on the Sony Reader. But there are more ebook selection on Amazon Kindle store.
And if you're getting the Kindle, my advice for you is to place the order as soon as possible so to ensure it arrives to you early. The first batch has just sold out and the second batch now deliver on or before 17th Sept. When the second batch get out of stock, it may take another month for it to be back in stock, and you'll have to wait much longer.
Hope it helps
