What does "press" mean?

I'm reading this novel and I don't know what press mean in the following sentences: A couple looking around their new kitchen. They're delighted, opening all the presses.

Those would be all the drawers and cabinets in which to put things.

   Well I'm curious about why you're starting it about the second letter and what happened to the first?

   Did the MC pull out one thing, and the brown paper skidding across the desk is something else? Or was it dropped? How does paper skid wildly?

   All in all not bad, but a few things had me confused.

   Hey, pretty good start! The story line itself is well thought up, a few spelling mistakes and the like to contend with but other than that a great read in itself! You seem to be a detailed much like myself, taking the effort to explain the surroundings much as I do. You seem to be around 16/17 – am I right? xD ha! Reading this gives me inspiration and I might post up what I've written sometime, would you read it and feedback?
