Pros and Cons of Amazons Kindle and Kindle 2. Plus which one is better?

plus i have heard that kindle 2 does not have a removable battery pack, so how does this affect the overall quality of the product?
forgot to say, i am planing on buying it as a gift for my mom, but want to buy the better one for her
