Classic/Modern literature suggestions?
Hello Answerers,
I was wondering if any of you had any classic or modern lit books to suggest, preferably in the macabre/horror genre. I have already read the classic horror that I know of (Dracula, Carmilla, Frankenstein, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde), as well as all of Edgar Allen Poe's works.
I don't care so much on the era for horror lit suggestions, but for mod lit I would prefer them to be post 1920's to today.
If you don't have suggestions for either, just suggest books you have enjoyed.
. I'm an avid reader and will read everything besides atrocities such as Twilight.
Thanks.
Classic: try works by Virginia Woolf. She wrote excellent novellas. My favorite is "Mrs. Dalloway." Once you've read this I would encourage you to read a modern novel called "The Hours" by Michael Cunningham it is based around Mrs. Dalloway. "The Hours" is also a beautiful movie.
Another modern novel I enjoyed was "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen.
Thurber's "The Unicorn In The Garden" -- A Narration
