will this computer spec work?
i want to build my first ever pc system for personal use like word typing, internet, email, uploads digital cam videos, store loads and loads of pictures from photo album (really HUGE).
i have come up with the following spec:
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 1.6GHz (775)
2gb ram corsair
ASUS P5N-E SLi NF650i 775
Windows Vista Home Premium
2GIG DDR2 Branded Memory
250GB Seagate Barracuda IDE hard drive
Samsung 18x DL DVDRW BLACK 12x RAM
MSI GeForce 8400GS 256MB PCI-E
52 in 1 Card Reader Black with USB
Black ATX Case w/400w
what are your views on this spec?
will the motherboard, processor, RAM and graphics card work well together?
Don't bother with getting 4GBs, it's a waste if you're not gaming on Vista, or doing heavy video editing or 3D modeling.
It looks pretty good, but I wanted to point out a couple of things.
250GB is actually not too high by today's standards. If it's enough for you than that's great, but you should consider a little more I think if you really want to store a lot of videos. You get the best price/GB at 320GB hard drives, and almost as good a price/GB on 500GB hard drives.
Also you listed the RAM twice, why?
If you need to save money, you could use a mobo with an integrated chipset, and not have to buy a video card. If you want to use the aero glass then forget that, and stay with what you have, but if you want to save some money and don't mind missing out on the aero glass, that would be a good things to do.
And, your motherboard is SLI, for those purposes there is absolutely no need to get SLI. Drop down to a cheaper one. Unless you think you'll decide you want to play games in the future, drop down to a cheaper one. Getting SLI is just a waste.
Good Luck
