Reader Wall Charger How to manage these extra cables in house?
Have you noticed recently how many wires and cables do we have in our houses these days? And I am not talking about the ones plugged into walls and "things", but the ones sitting in drawers, closets, boxes, everywhere... spare A/V cables, battery-charger cables, USB cables, adapter cables, so on and so forth... cables that came with the camcorder, camera(s), DVD player, card reader, computer, printer, i-pod... almost everything we bought in the last 2-3 years. Not all cables are redundant - so you cant really throw them away.
I hate to see how cluttered my room has become with these cables. Has anybody had any innovative & successful ideas of managing these 'extra-but-occassionally-used' cables? I would greatly appreciate your sharing them with me!
For the cables that are being used, I find color coding each cord a different color by wrapping each end of the same cord with the same color tape helpful.
For unused cords, wrap the cord around the end of the plug and place in a clear plastic zip close sandwich bag and label the outside of the bag with a label maker or masking tape and permanent marker. If you have several of these, you may want to place the smaller zip bags into one large zip bag and mark the outside of this bag.
If these cords that are not used at all or very infrequently, you may want to store them in an area where they will not be in your way but know where they are at if you need them.
A good place to store adaptors for video cameras would be in a case for the camera that has a place for this or enough extra room to do so.
