Etymology of "decidedly" and "eventually"?

"decidedly": Was this ever used to modify a verb to suggest it was the result of an actual decision? That is to say, the result of an act of human will? Or has it always simply been a broad magnifier?

"eventually": Has this always simply indicated the modified verb would occur at some vague future time, or in the end (depending on which definition you read)? Did it ever suggest that the modified verb was dependent upon an event?

In case it's not obvious, what's bugging me is that these adverbs seem to have such a painfully loose relationship with their root words.

(I know it's two questions together; even partial answers are appreciated!)

It says (translated into English):

Eventuale (adj.) from Latin - EVENTUS ( Avvenimento ) and this from EVENIRE (avvenire, thus happen, occur).

That is dependant on a future event and therefore may or may not happen.
