Sealed Amazon Kindle

Blocked Kindle? Is there any way to register it?

Hi there, i bought a Amazon Kindle brand new and sealed in the easy tear Amazon packing from someone off gumtree but when i created an amazon account went to register it online it said call kindle customer help tried on the kindle and got the same message.

Everything else works fine the web, wi-fi etc but i can't register. I called kindle and they said the serial MAY be blacklisted, sorry. WTF? I didn't even know it had serials like that and since i was buying it sealed i thought surly nothing can be dodgy about it.

Is there anything i or doubtfully, Amazon can do? What is this? surely i can connect it via usb and undo it somehow or they could reverse whatevers wrong?

If they already said the Kindle was blacklisted Amazon probably isn't going to help. It doesn't have to be that individual kindle that was stolen, a whole shipment might have been stolen and they could have zapped all the serials. You should still be able to sideload MOBI books or pdf files via usb. Just drag and drop onto the kindle under the document folder on the kindle. If you have ebooks and need to convert them you can use Calibre for that.
