Sony Ebook Reader Gadget
Which ebook reader would you recommend?
I'm thinking of buying an ebook reader. I know I don't want anything Sony...I want something simple to use. Let's face it, I'm not very good at electronic gadgets. Which is the best in terms of user-friendly and a good price/quality ratio?
Nothing Macintosh, thanks, either. I have Windows XP on one computer and Windows 7 on the other.
There's no Best Buy in S. Europe where I live. No Walmart or any other American chain stores, either.
It really depends on exactly what you want it to be able to do and how much you want to spend.
The Kindle 3G is currently £152 which makes its the best in its price range by miles. The non 3G version (wifi only) is 111 which is also pretty hard to beat.Its not the greatest of interfaces, it lacks a touch screen and is an eInk display (grey and black kind of like the early gameboy's but very easy to read) rather than the colour displays offered by some of the more expensive android based units. However on the plus side it has the most memory (4GB as opposed to 2GB on most others of similar price but lacks a TF slot) and the battery is far better than anyone else's (the nook has a stated battery of 7-8 hrs, the Sony 2 weeks and the kindle 1 month!)
The Kindle other software is basic, it doesn't even support photo viewing but does have a web browser and mp3 player (which also works for audio books).The web browser is clunky but works, its designed to connect to amazon to download books but its good enough to check webmail (I use yahoo mail) and facebook just don't expect to play bejewelled on it. The kindle has had a few games written for it, scrabble, suduko etc. (dont expect doom for kindle any time soon) , they have been released in America but not yet in Europe for some reason.
