How can you read a PDF ebook on a portable device, beside a laptop?

I have thousands of ebooks in PDF format. I am looking for a way to read them, other than with a PC. Kindle does not handle them natively, Sony eReader does not offer any zoom feature. Palm or Pocket PC turn them into 2000+ pages due to the small screen...
Does any one has a different suggestion?
Thanks.

The Kindle DX can handle PDF files natively, and it is the ebook reader which can handle PDF file the best right now.

You can read these reviews, it tells quite a lot about it:

Out of the sony portable reader and the amazon kindle, which ebook store offers the most selection of books?

For sure, don't know. I have read about the Kindle because I sell on Amazon, and I know the site is pushing it big time with over 80,000 titles available. That's a lot. When you check out Sony for information, there's no mention about the number of titles available, though I did just find this in a review of the product:

"Sony's online Connect bookstore is still a work in progress; proprietary Connect book files aren't compatible with other devices and are often as expensive as paper books; Connect software isn't available for Mac owners; no support for Audible audio books." (from link)

So, when it comes to support, the Kindle might be better, but for now, think both have some problems and last I checked on Amazon, the Kindle was sold out (and on one of the Sony sites, said the same about it). In the end, I'm not much help. :)
