PRS-600 Reader Touch Edition internet connection?

I'm looking into getting an e-reader and am very interested in the PRS-600 Reader Touch Edition by Sony. Before I buy something that's $200 - $300, I look it up a research it ALOT to make sure I really want it.

One thing that confused me though, was that on the Sony site it said it needed an internet connection. I get you would need it to download books, but can you read the books that are on your Reader without an internet connection? And you can transfer e-books from your computer onto the reader right?

Yes, you only need to have internet access when you get the books to your reader. Once the e-books are on the device then you can read it without any connection.

However, at the same price I'll suggest the Amazon Kindle 2. It is because books on the Kindle are cheaper, and you'll have free internet 3G access and text-to-speech function with the Kindle. I remember I read this review when I decided to get my Kindle.
