Question on What kind of Travel Bag to Use in Australia?

I am traveling for about 1.5 months from Mexico, then to Australia and finally in Fiji. I was wondering if someone experienced with prolonged travel could tell me if I should use a cargo style large bag or if a Kelty/ North Face, large style backpack would do the trick. I won't be doing anything majorly strenuous but there will be camping involved and as I said, I will be away for about 1.5 months. Thanks.

Having travelled twice around Europe with the same backpack, this is definitely the way to go (hands free, weight distributed on shoulders, waist). As you are only going for 1.5 months, you will have more than enough room for all your stuff. Pack it then take half your clothes out - you will not need them!

How do you clean a travel bag? (Without washing it)?

I'm bringing along a hand-carry bag for school camp and I haven't really used in in quite a while. Not that it's totally dirty or anything, it's just that it's gotten really dusty and smells like it. I tried vacuuming it but I want to try cleaning it some more before I actually put some clothes in.

Take a clean cloth and dampen it with some baking soda on it and wash it well; it will help deodorize it. Rinse it again with the dampened cloth and wipe dry. Then if you have some Febreze, spritz some of that in there and outside the bag. When it comes time to store it away again, include a dryer sheet in there.

Do as he says…bring the "small hand luggage" so as to avoid a spat before you leave. And in case you go into one of your shopping binges, remember you only have one "small hand luggage". Bring this fact to him so as to make him conscience-stricken…who knows? he'll come repentant and buy you another "small hand luggage".
